Bush, Putin, Edwards
Question: President Bush, Jr. once said after meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin, that after looking him in the eye, "I was able to get a sense of his soul.” God, this is a two part question; first, was that possible, and second, with Russia’s recent push into Georgia, does his soul have sway in decision making.
Answer: It is difficult enough for most you to get a sense of your own soul, let alone that of anyone else. The profound portent that accompanies Bush’s statement belies a childlike simplicity in the answer. Knowing that it is present and sensing it though is quite different. But knowing that a soul consciousness occupies the body known as Putin is a good first step. That is because what you call the soul is the angel within each of you. Looking into the eyes is more poetic perhaps, but totally unnecessary. In terms of human interactions though, understanding the human personality is more important. Since the soul is angel, you know the answer to the rest of your question. Would an angel wage war? Would an angel take lives? (The answer is no!). However, that angelic soul may be far removed from the personality, with layers of encrustation around the heart, and with an intellect that knows only fear. So, from your perspective, recognition of that soul would likely be most difficult.
Question: John Edwards has recently made headlines with personal choices that many people find compelling for public discussion. John reportedly said, (back in 1999), that former President Clinton had “…shown a remarkable disrespect for his office, for the moral dimensions of leadership, for his friends, for his wife, for his precious daughter. It is breathtaking to me the level to which that disrespect has risen”. Would you mind commenting on that, God?
Answer: Once upon a no-time, someone said something about casting stones. And while casting stones is still practiced in some areas of your world, in your region of the eternal now, it is more likely to be judgments, or comments that are cast about. From Presidents to would be presidents, the symbology of these stories simply show the common thread running through the human fabric. You struggle to find love, looking to connect with it in so many varied ways. That is part of being human. The human experience is one of education. Love of self must be looked for within.
Question: The opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics was dazzling and spectacular. Some people have seen in it an ominous sign, interpreting the massive precision and powerful message in this manner. Should people have reason to find fear amidst the beauty?
Answer: Fear is always lurking at the outskirts of almost any human endeavor. It is best to simply recognize it, an understandable human feeling, but not invite it in to stay. If the pageantry and display of the opening ceremony gave you a moment of real pleasure, allow yourselves to love it for its beauty and the connection it brought you to something greater. You might have heard that memorable line from The Wizard of Oz, as Glinda, the Good Witch of the North said to the Wicked Witch of the West, “You have no power here!” That should be the answer to fear.
